34 shops in Vandellòs and l’Hospitalet de l’Infant already have their .cat website
The L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and La Vall de Llors Shopkeepers’ Association and the Vall de Llors Restaurant and Hotel Association, in collaboration with Fundació puntCAT, have made the comerçlocal.cat digitalisation scheme possible in the municipality.

Thanks to the comerçlocal.cat scheme, 34 shops in Vandellòs and l’Hospitalet de l’Infant applied to have their own websites in Catalan between 7 and 23 June. The proposal has been very well received by both shopkeepers and restaurateurs. From the moment the comerçlocal.cat scheme was presented at a number of establishments belonging to the shopkeepers’ and restaurateurs’ association, they showed an interest in having an online presence in Catalan.
In the end, a total of 34 .cat domains were registered in the municipality, 32 of which took the opportunity to get their first website completely for free. In addition to acting as a platform for the dissemination of content in Catalan, the comerçlocal.cat scheme offers shopkeepers who register a .cat domain the development of a free website with basic information about their business. The aim is to make the presence of small shops on the Internet more accessible.
“The comerçlocal.cat scheme has been very positively and satisfactorily rated by the shopkeepers’ association, as its shopkeepers have seen that this initiative is a great opportunity to start their online presence. Having an online presence can thus improve communication with customers and disseminate our activities quickly, efficiently and for free,” stated María José Gómez, chairwoman of L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and La Vall de Llors Shopkeepers’ Association.
With this tour throughout the Catalan-speaking areas, Fundació puntCAT is promoting a scheme that fosters online access for all shopkeepers in order to publicise their businesses on the Internet and increase the number of potential customers.
