Ester Franquesa, Director General of Linguistic Policy, Oriol Hosta, Chairman of the host organisation, Lluïsos de Gràcia and representatives of a number of organisations such as the Association for the Promotion of the Oral Use of Catalan in Formal and Informal Contexts, the Association of Publishers in Catalan, the Association of Periodicals in Catalan, the Reus Bar Association’s Language Committee, Fundació Bell-lloc and Fundació Privada Ared also took part.
The Register of organisations for the promotion of the Catalan language, which has been driven by the Department of Culture’s Linguistic Policy Department since 2002, has experienced strong growth in recent years. Following a 57.5% rise between 2013 and 2016, it currently includes 189 organisations, 26 of which joined in 2016.
The organisations included in the register belong to a number of very different areas (culture, business, leisure, science, social integration, sport and technology, among others) and cover all the Catalan-speaking territories.
