Small businesses with no digital presence can now have a .cat website
The puntCAT Foundation has signed partnership agreements with different Councils and Trade associations to implement the elteunegoci.cat programme in their municipalities. Over the coming days, puntCAT is to travel to Sentmenat, Sabadell, Sant Cugat and Mora d’Ebre to assist all businesses wanting to set up a website with the .cat domain. Google Analytics and Google My Business are also to be set up in the sessions, which are to last for around 2 hours.
The website offered to small businesses includes basic information about the establishment and its products or services, offering a first foray into the digital world. The website can be edited at any time by the business and has a modern, very intuitive design. The project is financed by the foundational funds of puntCAT, which provides small businesses with this platform to create their websites free of charge. Businesses setting up their website with elteunegoci.cat simply pay €36 a year for the domain and web hosting.
According to various reports on the state of ICT implementation in Catalonia, only 3 out of 10 companies with less than 10 workers have a website. With the elteunegoci.cat programme, we want to help small shops within the Catalan Countries to gain visibility and presence in the digital environment, hence reducing the digital divide between small and large businesses.
