The L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and La Vall de Llors Shopkeepers’ Association and the Vall de Llors Restaurant and Hotel Association have signed an agreement with Fundació puntCAT to enable the establishments in the municipality to join the Comerçlocal.cat scheme from 7 to 23 June.
Taking advantage of the signing of an agreement between the two organisations and the Centre for Linguistic Standardisation for the Reus Area, managers of the Foundation went to L’Hospitalet in March to explain the project to the people in charge of the two associations. This introduction session was also attended by the Town Councillor for Business and Trade, Miquel Àngel Garcés, and by the Town Councillor for Tourism, Elidia López.
Both María José Gómez, chairwoman of the L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and La Vall de Llors Shopkeepers’ Association, and Monica Alves, chairwoman of the Vall de Llors Restaurant and Hotel Association, showed an interest in the scheme and applied it to their associates. So far, there are already 21 establishments from the association of shopkeepers and 14 restaurant owners who wish to have an online presence in Catalan. However, this figure could increase following the visits to be made by technicians from the Foundation to the municipality to develop websites on-site, in Catalan, leaving them fully designed and operating immediately.
Any L’Hospitalet de l’Infant and Vandellòs shopkeepers and restaurateurs wishing to take part in this campaign can make an appointment by calling free phone number 900866192, through the website www.comerçlocal.cat or by sending an e-mail to info@comerçlocal.cat.
Once the appointment has been made, the establishment will be visited by a professional team from Fundació puntCAT to develop the website on site, in Catalan, leaving it designed and operating by the end of the visit. Shop owners will get a free website for the price of the .cat domain.
This action represents shopkeepers’ first foray into the digital world, with basic information on their establishments and their products or services.
