The registration period for the Webs al punt .cat competition ended on 2 February with a total of 802 groups and 2,415 students registered. These are record participation figures in the history of the competition.
The groups registered for Webs al punt .cat have until 15 March to submit their projects, and those taking part will be subject to a popular vote from 26 March to 13 April. The three finalists in each category will be made public on 18 April and they will present their projects at the Grand Final Gala at CosmoCaixa on 11 May, where a jury will decide on the winners.
This year, Webs al punt .cat is returning to YOMO, the youth science and technology fair, with the workshop Webs al Punt Express, a version of the competition that will encourage participants to form groups of 2 to 4 people to take part in the experience of creating an actual website in less than an hour. The puntCAT Foundation is also to have a stand at the fair with the activity “Imagine your website” that offers a creative experience to provide the youngsters taking part with an insight into domains and websites. Visitors to the stand may also take part in a survey on cybersecurity and learn whether or not their browsing habits are correct.
Furthermore, this year the puntCAT Foundation is to take part in YOMO with a round table on internet security and values with the experts Ramon Arnó (lawyer specialising in data protection) and Montserrat Escudé (Sergeant of the Central Unit of Proximity and Citizens’ Advice). It is also to take part in the Teacher Track, the area at Yomo devoted to teaching, with a talk by three teachers, who will share experiences on their participation in the latest Webs al punt .cat competitions.
