The Fundacio .cat has published the 2020 Observatory, the infographic analysis of the most relevant data in the domain over the last year. Currently, the .cat domain reaches 110,802 websites, which represents a growth of 1.55% compared to 2019.
These are positive data, which consolidate the strength and growth of the domain, even more so in a context of health crisis such as the one we are experiencing this year. 2020 has been a very difficult year for society, with a global pandemic that has forced many businesses to close and adopt the digital habits of many businesses.
The .cat Observatory allows us to compare the evolution of the domain since its creation, this year 15 years ago. One of the most notable growths in recent years has been the international projection of the .cat domain. Currently, the presence of the .cat domain in all Catalan-speaking territories represents 87.66%. It should be noted that Andorra, the Balearic Islands and the Valencian Country continue to grow in number of domains.
72.62% of .cat domains registered have web content and most of them show the content of the main page in Catalan. The renewal rate, that is, the number of domains that are renewed annually, is very positive. More than 8 out of 10 domains renew, which shows the trust that customers have in .cat.
