SmartCatalonia Challenge 2021 awards ceremony
An App that monitors buses and provides real-time information is the winner of the ninth edition of the SmartCatalonia Challenge. It is AquiBus, a technological solution created by the company Nexus Geographics.
The competition, which this year focused on innovation in the framework of sustainability by road, is organised by the Department of the Vice-Presidency, Digital Policies and Territory. The winning company won 15,000 euros and the chance to pilot the application with the Directorate-General for Transport and Mobility.
The remaining prizes (20,000 euros in total) were shared among the ten finalists. Of particular note were the proposals App&Town, which is used to plan routes for people with reduced mobility and won second prize; and the bronze for the jury, the app Transportsegur.cat, an application that allows notification of dangerous situations such as physical aggression or harassment on public transport.
The awards were presented at the International Mobility Congress at the end of September.
